UvenileParticipantMy Apple ID was suspended yesterday, and I have no idea what triggered it. It’s the same account I’ve used for years, but I signed in over hotel Wi-Fi during a trip and now my iPhone says the account isn’t active. I can still unlock the phone, but iCloud, purchases, and Find My have stopped working. Has anyone dealt with this, and what should I do first without making the situation worse?

CasabianParticipantPay attention to the exact message before trying random password changes. A security lock can often be cleared through password recovery, while “Apple Account is not active” usually requires an access request. Go to iforgot.apple.com and enter the phone number connected to the account, or tap Request Access if that button appears in the warning. Make sure you still have access to the trusted number and email tied to the account, since Apple may use them to verify your identity.

PrashutoParticipantOnce the request has been submitted, stop signing in through new networks or trying the account on other devices. The hotel login may have triggered a location flag, and more unfamiliar activity could give Apple another reason to reject the attempt. You can read what to do when an Apple ID is suspended or banned here: https://gologin.com/blog/account-suspended/ . It also covers device associations and other actions that can cause an account to be blocked without a clear explanation. That should help you figure out what set it off and avoid the same problem after access is restored.
