Lead Side Connection Drill- This is an awesome drill to learn to connect the left side & right side of the body for better control of the downswing.
Often times a righties left side is just kind of floating in space and they have a hard time connecting their left side to pull them into a good rotation often resulting in some type of sway or slide in their swing.
This drill is helpful in feeling the left shoulder/connection to ensure better mechanics for a rotational swing around a stable axis.
Often times a golfer will have a hard time finding their left hip & getting it neutral which then makes it hard to find the left shoulder and connect the body for a fluid rotation.
This first drill is just an awareness drill to start to get everything connected. The key to this drill is finding the perfect band strength that is long enough that you can barely get on the left shoulder but facilitates the fascial slings in the
body to work using optimal mechanical advantage.
Got the idea for this from another coach but couldn’t find his page for the shout out.
Lead Side Connection Drill (Slamball Throw)- now that you’ve worked on the simple mechanics, & grooved the motion we are going to load up the body & make the drill more athletic.
I like to use slam balls on this to work on impact. Teaching the left side to pull the body into rotation rather than just coming down in the downswing but the right side is never really tethered to the left side so their tends to be poor rotation around the left hip. I like to do sets of 10 reps using a 6 or 10 pound slam ball.
